We’ll be launching lots of new gorgeous handmade goodies in our shop very soon but couldn’t resist putting these up today…

Two gorgeous new medium weight scarves – perfect for this never ending winter/never starting spring!

They’re double sided – bright, summery 100% cotton ‘hollandais’ fabrics on one side with a softer, more snuggly side made from 55% hemp/45% organic cotton jersey in charcoal grey.

The colours are uplifting and sunny but they’re keep you warm until the summer arrives

A snap at £25 and all the profit will help us to enrol more children like Tom, orphaned by HIV, enrol into primary school 🙂

Whether you celebrate Christmas (or any festival) at this time of year or not its an good opportunity for us to reflect back and show love to other people….not that we need an excuse!

Don’t know about you, but as the days grow darker in the UK, we grow fonder and fonder of our sofa. So we’ve made ours a colourful, cosy nest for hibernating in with some of our beautiful new cushions handmade for you by Sarah Kabenge.

They are 100% cotton, hard wearing and whether it is education grants or skills training that helps guardians earn an income, every penny we raise through sales and donations goes towards projects that are making life better for kids like Tom and Jaliya.

Our new crafting workshops have been inspired by the colourful bird life of Uganda!

You don’t need any previous experience or sewing skills, you follow simple patterns and we’ll talk you through it!

All materials are included in the £10 fee and all the profit from the afternoon will go to awamu to give orphaned and vulnerable children in the slums of Kampala a special treat this Christmas.

You’ll learn a bit about sewing and a bit about life and wildlife in Uganda 🙂

awamu at Camden Lock night market

We will be at Camden Lock Night Market on Thursday 29th November from 5-10pm for an evening of shopping, music, good food and workshops.

We will be in the We Make London area located in the Lower Market Hall of the beautiful Victorian Camden Lock buildings – the area will feature some of the UK’s most exciting designer-makers.

The evening will be accompanied by beautiful music from the Salvation Army and Camden Lock favourites Camden Guitars performing Christmas songs played in a Spanish style (yes really!)…so why not take a walk down Camden memory lane with us 🙂

Public Transport: Camden Lock Market can be easily reached by Tube or Overground. Camden Town and Camden Road are the closest two stations.

Parking: Parking is free around Camden from 6.30pm.

Come and see us at Old Spitalfields Market this Saturday

We were very honoured to be invited to be part of the We Make London area at Old Spitalfields market this Saturday the 10th of November.

There will be a mixture of stalls ladened with festive goodies and showcasing the talent and creativity designers and makers – you’ll be able pick up plenty of unique and stylish gifts…..and of course sample the foodie delights that Spitalfields is famous for.

 

Old Spitalfields Market is one of London’s finest Victorian market halls. Set in an historic location in the heart of the City and one of the crown jewels of East London.

We’ll be easy to find, Old Spitalfields Market is a short walk from both Liverpool Street and Aldgate East stations –  16 Horner Square, Spitalfields, London E1 6EW

Here are a few photos from our stand at the Thames Festival on Saturday…..it was a beautiful sunny day to be by the river. We meet loads of friendly people (London at it’s best!) and raised £267.50!

Special thanks to We Make London for inviting us and to the Thames Festival organisers (for dispersing the stampeding crowds!) and everyone who stopped for a chat – you’re all brilliant!

This weekend is the Thames Festival!

We’re thrilled that the lovely folk at We Make London have invited us to join them at the Thames Festival again this year.

The Thames Festival is London’s largest outdoor arts festival – a spectacular event, free to all, which brings together Londoners of all ages and from all communities to celebrate their city and the River Thames.

We’ll be there on Saturday the 8th have lots of goodies on sale – including new items that have yet to make it on to the website and to celebrate we’re offering a 25% discount to anyone that says they’ve read this!

We will be situated in Bernie Spain Gardens, a beautiful grassed area between the Oxo Tower and Gabriel’s Wharf.

There is a great programme for the area over the weekend – live music, bar  food area and much more making a fantastic vibe.
